TriMusica – FREE Chamber music concert presented by Mother Lode Friends of Music

Doors 2:30, show 3 pm. Open seating, beer and wine available. THIS IS A FREE EVENT! This is a SUNDAY concert.

Mother Lode Friends of Music presents a spring chamber music concert performed by Sacramento area trio, “TriMusica,” Sunday, March 3, 2024, 3:00 pm at the Sutter Creek Theater, Sutter Creek.

Founded in 2015, TriMusica is clarinetist Sandra McPherson, cellist Susan Lamb Cook and pianist John Cozza. The ensemble’s repertoire consists of standard and contemporary works, performing regularly throughout Northern California. TriMusica has been featured on the Sacramento State University Festival of New American Music, the UCD Davis Shinkoskey Noon Concert Series, and the Great Composers Series at the Harris Center in Folsom.

The trio will perform works by composers Louise Farrenc (1804 – 1875), Nino Rota (1911 – 1979), Astor Piazzolla (1921 – 1992) and a new work, “Mask,” by Durwynne Hsieh that TriMusica premiered in November, 2023.

Sandra Moats McPherson is professor of clarinet at Sacramento State University’s School of Music, Cosumnes River College, and American River College and performs frequently as principal clarinetist and bass clarinetist in numerous Northern California orchestras, including the Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera, and Choral Society Orchestras.

Susan Lamb Cook is Faculty Affiliate in cello and chamber music at the University of California, Davis, and a member of the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera and the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra. She has performed numerous concerts and given master classes throughout the US, Europe, and China.

John Cozza is in demand throughout California as teacher, coach/accompanist, chamber musician, adjudicator and clinician. He has been the Staff Accompanist at Sacramento State University since 2004 and began serving as Music Director and Pianist/Organist at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Carmichael in January of 2018.

The Sutter Creek Theatre, 44 Main Street, Sutter Creek, is an intimate setting for these accomplished chamber musicians. Please join us for a lovely afternoon of refreshing music, ushering in a new season for Friends of Music!
