“Great to meet you at these shows. You brought me to tears during your most heartfelt fiddle solo in Peggy-O. I had to put down my camera, I couldn’t see through the viewfinder with tears welling up like that. And that, my friend, is why I go see live music.” Mike Pegram, Photographer
“I am blown away by the talent exhibited on the stage with the combination of players in the new band, Painted Mandolin. I have produced a few shows with Joe Craven, Matt Hartle, Larry Graff and Roger Sideman and they have hit on an amazing combination of symbiosis playing old Garcia tunes, traditional’s and the good ol’ Grateful Dead to get your audiences up and moving. Joe is a master showman and the guitar playing and vocals of Matt and Larry, combined with Rogers driving bass sets a strong tone where the music is allowed to pour out of the speakers into the audience.” Jay Saber – The Wheel Company
“How do you possibly spice up the acoustic musical gumbo cooked up by Jerry Garcia over 50 years of pickin’? You need more than great players. You need highly creative, innovative spice masters to make it hot and fresh and imminently danceable. You need Painted Mandolin.” Tom Miller, Concert Coordinator, Don Quixote’s International Music Hall, Felton, California.
